Six Habits That Make You Faster in Racing Games

Updated 2026-10-08 · 2 min read

Anyone can hold down the accelerator. The drivers who finish first are the ones who control the car. These six habits work in almost every racing game, from street racers to monster trucks.

Look well ahead of the car

Your eyes should be on the road ahead, not on your own vehicle. The earlier you see a bend, a ramp or traffic, the more calmly you can react.

Brake before the bend, not in it

Slow down before you turn. Braking hard in the middle of a corner unsettles the car, while a controlled entry lets you accelerate out of the bend.

Steer with small movements

Big, sudden steering inputs make a car twitchy. Small corrections keep it stable and make your line more consistent from lap to lap.

Learn the controls before the race

Take a minute to learn the keys. In Night Racing, for example, W and S accelerate and brake, A and D steer, Space is the handbrake and F fires the nitro once you own a car that has it. In Monsters Wheels 2, Space or X fires the nitro, and the Left and Right arrows lean the truck in the air.

Save the boost for open road

Nitro is most valuable on a clear stretch. Using it in traffic or just before a bend usually costs you more than it gains.

Upgrade with a plan

When a game lets you spend winnings, think about what you need. Monsters Wheels 2 offers upgrades for engine, suspension, tyres and nitro. A stronger engine adds speed, but better suspension and tyres can help you stay in control on rough levels.

Games to practice on

Formula Go is a formula-style racer where you take on AI rivals on tracks modeled after famous real-world circuits, and the aim is to master the sharp bends and reach the podium. Drive Zone mixes city streets, rally tracks and off-road ground, so you can practice adapting your driving to the surface.

One habit at a time

Pick one habit, such as braking early, and focus on it for a few races before adding the next.
